Who Are These Brethren?
In the New Testament, the word brethren describes the kinship of men and women who chose another way of living: the way of Jesus. The Church of the Brethren begun 300 years ago in Germany, still draws people who want to continue Jesus' work of loving service.

For guidance, Brethren look to the scriptures rather than to doctrine. Our faith emphasizes compassion, peacemaking, and simplicity. We baptize those who seek to follow Jesus; we annoint for healing; and we observe the Love Feast which is based on the John 13 account of Jesus' last meal with the disciples where he broke bread with them and washed their feet as a symbol of love, hospitality, service, and humility.

Brethren work locally and world-wide to help victims of war, poverty, and natural disasters. We believe that when Jesus showed us another way of living, he intended it to nourish and hearten the entire human family.

AS A COMMUNITY
As a community of seekers and disciples, we support and encourage each other in simple, day-to-day ways: studying the Bible, gathering for workship, sharing meals, enjoying thoughtful companionship.

We believe in a loving faithful God, who through Jesus, lived, died, and is risen so that we can know salvation in life; that the Holy Spirit guides and gives power; that the Bible is trustworthy as a guide for daily life; and that the church helps us to live as Christ teaches.
